Hurricane is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Scott is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Redskins will welcome the Skyhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hurricane 2.7, Scott 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Hurricane is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: St. Albans, who was ranked 17th at the time (Hurricane was ranked third). The Redskins' pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Dragons a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The Redskins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Meanwhile, Scott was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Logan by a score of 7-3. The game was the first time the Skyhawks have beaten the Wildcats on their field since March 29, 2023.
Louden White made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Jason Ferrell was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Ian Prince was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Scott kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.
Hurricane is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Scott, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5-2.
Hurricane couldn't quite finish off Scott in their previous meeting back in May of 2019 and fell 6-4. Will the Redskins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
