Softball Recap: Hampton Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Hampton won against Western Beaver last Wednesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Talbots put the hurt on the Deer Lakes Lancers with a sharp 11-2 win. The Talbots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by nine runs or more this season.

Cassie Vidic made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

In other batting news, Addi Hanna was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aliza Michielli, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hampton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Hampton pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Deer Lakes, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-11.

Looking ahead, Hampton will head out to face off against South Fayette at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Deer Lakes, they will welcome Fox Chapel at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
