The WestSide Renegades took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (and then some). They were the clear victor by a 52-29 margin over Shady Spring. That's another feather in the cap for WestSide, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Shady Spring's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendra Pizzino, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals. Pizzino scored a full 44.8% of Shady Spring's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kendall Lilly was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
WestSide's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Shady Spring, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. WestSide will square off against Mingo Central on Tuesday. As for Shady Spring, they will head out on the road to face off against Midland Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
