The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ben Simons, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Sanchez, who posted nine points.
Even though they lost, Coal Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Cedaredge ended up a good deal behind Plateau Valley on Saturday and lost 53-37. The game marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Coal Ridge will have to keep a close watch on Rylan Brooks and Brady Cooper, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cedaredge's prior game. Brooks went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points, while Cooper put up nine points along with six boards and four steals.
Cedaredge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Coal Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Coal Ridge has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 37.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Cedaredge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
