Fernandina Beach has gone a perfect 6-0 against Hilliard recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Fernandina Beach Pirates will be playing at home against the Hilliard Red Flashes at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fernandina Beach has five straight wins, Hilliard has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fernandina Beach gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Wolfson with a sharp 8-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Pirates have posted against the Wolfpack since April 26, 2021.
Trace Farmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tanner Jones, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Dylan Wilkes, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hilliard lost 11-1 to Baker County on Wednesday.
Hilliard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Conner Bayless, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Fernandina Beach pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs over those games. As for Hilliard, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Fernandina Beach took their win against Hilliard in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0. Will Fernandina Beach repeat their success, or does Hilliard have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
