The Penn Manor Comets will venture away from home to square off against the Solanco Golden Mules at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Penn Manor sitting on three straight victories and Solanco on 16.
If Penn Manor beats Solanco with 11 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Everything went the Comets' way against J.P. McCaskey on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Kyleigh Lamborn made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Riley Frank was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Skiadas, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Solanco came out on top against Conestoga Valley on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Golden Mules walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Buckskins.
Kira Roark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Ava Fedoruk was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Delaney Gote, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Solanco lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Solanco pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.1 runs. As for Penn Manor, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
