After flying high against the Munford Lions on Monday, the Lincoln Golden Bears came back down to earth. Lincoln was beaten by Talladega 82-29 on Friday. Lincoln was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-25.
Talladega's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zae Cunningham led the charge by scoring 30 points along with six assists and three steals. The matchup was Cunningham 's third in a row with at least ten points. Trinity Webb was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Talladega, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Lincoln will play host again and welcome Gaston, where tip off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Gaston comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Talladega won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sylacauga at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. Sylacauga will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Talladega is ranked 110th).
