The De Anza Dons suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Pinole Valley by a score of 59-57. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for De Anza in their matchups with Pinole Valley: they've now lost three in a row.
Pinole Valley was led to victory by Jaylin Reed and Chriseanie Nealy. Reed scored 17 points along with three blocks and two steals, while Nealy scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Nealy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Romyn Waugh, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
De Anza's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Pinole Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. De Anza will square off against San Lorenzo at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. San Lorenzo is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Pinole Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Analy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Analy is ranked 474th, while Pinole Valley is ranked 455th).
