The Miami Country Day Spartans posted their biggest win yet this season on Monday. They blew past Don Soffer Aventura, posting a 77-18 win at home. Given Miami Country Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Don Soffer Aventura is ranked 512th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Herbert Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Miami Country Day's points. Another player making a difference was Miguel Orbe, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Don Soffer Aventura lost, one person who can't be blamed is David Smith. Despite the final result, he scored five points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Miami Country Day and bumps their season record up to 12-9. As for Don Soffer Aventura, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Miami Country Day will challenge Saint Andrew's at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Don Soffer Aventura, they will be playing at home against International Studies at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
