The William Floyd Colonials had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sachem East 61-28 at home. William Floyd has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.
William Floyd's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shy Hawkins led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hawkins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Gilmore, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists.
William Floyd pushed their record up to 15-1 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Sachem East, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
William Floyd will be playing in front of their home fans against the Musketeers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Central Islip comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Sachem East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
