Atkins won the last time they faced Ben L. Smith and things went their way on Friday too. Atkins was the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Ben L. Smith. With that victory, the Camels brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Aniston Pennington was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, Emma Davis and Ava Fleming did most of the damage at the plate: Davis scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Fleming scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Nina Mathews was another key player, scoring three runs.

Atkins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Atkins and bumps their season record up to 3-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Ben L. Smith, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atkins will host Glenn at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Atkins' pitchers better be ready for this one: Glenn has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Ben L. Smith, they will square off against Rockingham County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockingham County will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Ben L. Smith surely won't give up without a fight.
