Rockhurst (Kansas City, Mo.) took an early lead against
Blue Springs South (Blue Springs, Mo.) and held on for a 27-6 victory on Saturday.
In the first quarter, the Hawklets put up seven points. Rockhurst scored on a touchdown pass by
T.j. Green to
Javon Goodman.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Green to Goodman in the first quarter, RHS was up 7-0 at the half.
The Kansas City school grew its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. The Hawklets scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Kiah Kintchen.
Kintchen was the top performer for Rockhurst. He ran for two touchdowns.
Blue Springs South's lone touchdown came on a 96-yard kick return by
Brandin Dandridge in the fourth quarter.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Jaguars took, 28-7.
The defeat comes as a step back for Blue Springs South, which notched a 23-20 victory over Staley in its previous outing. The loss ended Blue Springs South's two-game winning streak.
