After flying high against the Ooltewah Owls last Friday, The Coffee County Central Red Raiders came back down to earth. Coffee County Central received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 31-14 to Blackman. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coffee County Central in their matchups with Blackman: they've now lost eight in a row.
Jon Massengill threw for 98 yards on four of 15 attempts. Xavier Randolph was his top target, picking up 76 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Jayden Carter rushed for 51 yards.
Leading Blackman to victory were Jayden Guy and Caden Perkins. Guy picked up 138 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Perkins rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns. Coffee County Central's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Shelbyville Central and 8-2 Oakland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65% over those games). As for Blackman, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Coffee County Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Blackman will be playing at home against Mount Juliet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
