There's no place like home for the Meridian Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Brandon 58-37. For Meridian, this counts as revenge for the 69-68 defeat the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Brandon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate White, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. Braylon Barnes was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meridian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Brandon, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meridian will take on the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Jones will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Wildcats are ranked 22nd). As for Brandon, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
