The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets suffered their closest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Rock Hill by a score of 53-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Fort Mill came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Bearcats are ranked 124th).
Fort Mill's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AJ Washington, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Washington hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian McCain, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Malik Ashe had a dynamite game for Rock Hill, scoring 17 points. Another player making a difference was Zacarious Mckinney, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Fort Mill are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-10. As for Rock Hill, their win bumped their record up to 7-16.
Fort Mill will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Vikings at 8:00 p.m. Spring Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 233 points over their last four games. As for Rock Hill, they will head out on the road to face off against the Falcons at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
