It was a good run, but the Founders Classical Academy Archers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 44-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grace Academy. While losing is never fun, Founders Classical Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1157th, while Grace Academy is ranked 568th).
Despite the loss, Founders Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Faith Buterbaugh, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds. Buterbaugh hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Mary Tavarez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grace Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reagan Johnson, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lyla Carleton, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Founders Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Grace Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Founders Classical Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on IDEA Health Professions at 6:45 p.m. on January 23rd. IDEA Health Professions comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Grace Academy, Grace Academy and St. Stephen's Episcopal will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully St. Stephen's Episcopal focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
