Even though Petal scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Oak Grove still came out on top. Oak Grove narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Petal 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Oak Grove has posted yet this season.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Brandon beat Northwest Rankin 47-41 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Brandon.
Brandon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Barnes, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Nate White was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Oak Grove's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13. As for Brandon, their victory bumped their record up to 14-11.
Oak Grove lost to Brandon on the road by a decisive 60-43 margin in their previous meeting on January 9th. Can Oak Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
