The McKeel Academy Wildcats will stay at home for another game and welcome the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks at 8:00 p.m. on December 15th. McKeel Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 341 points over their last five matches.
Last Tuesday, McKeel Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Davenport, taking the game 59-48. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points McKeel Academy has scored all season.
McKeel Academy can attribute much of their success to Alex Sessoms, who scored 17 points along with five steals, and Axel Acevedo, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Sessoms has scored at least 25% of McKeel Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Toby Thompson, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sarasota.
Despite their loss, Santa Fe Catholic saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Antonio Wright, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Dykhuizen, who scored 16 points.
McKeel Academy pushed their record up to 5-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Santa Fe Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-1.
McKeel Academy skirted past Santa Fe Catholic 55-53 in their previous matchup back in February of 2019. Does McKeel Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Santa Fe Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
