The Lincoln County Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Florence-Carlton Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Lincoln County didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Loyola-Sacred Heart, but they still walked away with a 36-30 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Rogan Lytle had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 248 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 40 yards and one touchdown. Those 248 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Josh Lambertsen was another key player, rushing for 59 yards and two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lincoln County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 307 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loyola-Sacred Heart only rushed for 26.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Florence-Carlton). They blew past Powell County, posting a 61-6 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Falcons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Montana football rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Wardens are ranked 68th).
Florence-Carlton's win came from a few key players Lincoln County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mattix Chase, who rushed for 54 yards and one touchdown. Brody Duchien got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Florence-Carlton, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Levi Winters, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Florence-Carlton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Chase Wagner and Duchien. Florence-Carlton received some extra help from Christian Englund, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Lincoln County's record now sits at 4-1. As for Florence-Carlton, their record is now 2-3.
Things could have been worse for Lincoln County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 17-0 loss to Florence-Carlton when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
