The Mayfield Panthers lost against the Northville Falcons back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Mayfield lost to Northville on the road by a decisive 50-31 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mayfield has scored all season.
Mayfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abigail Chest, who scored eight points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Cloey Dopp, who scored 14 points.
Mayfield struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mayfield now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Northville, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayfield will square off against Middleburgh at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Middleburgh and Mayfield are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Northville, they will head out on the road to take on Berne-Knox-Westerlo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berne-Knox-Westerlo is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
