Schurr has gone a perfect 10-0 against San Gabriel recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Spartans will head out to challenge the Matadors at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Schurr has six straight wins, San Gabriel has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Schurr made easy work of Montebello and carried off an 18-1 victory. Considering the Spartans have won ten contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophia De Santiago and Bethany Vallin made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, De Santiago tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Vallin tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, De Santiago scored two runs while going 1-for-1, while Vallin scored two runs and stole a base. Those two runs gave De Santiago a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sarah Romero was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Samantha Maldonado was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
Schurr was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, San Gabriel came up short against Alhambra on Tuesday, falling 16-2.
Schurr pushed their record up to 13-3-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for San Gabriel, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Everything went Schurr's way against San Gabriel in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Schurr made off with a 30-2 win. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Matadors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
