The Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks were handed a three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Bellevue East Chieftains on Saturday. Lincoln Southwest blew past the Chieftains 55-28 on the road. Given Lincoln Southwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Chieftains are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lincoln Southwest was led to victory by Bj Bradford and Jaxyn Cruse. Bradford scored 16 points along with three steals, while Cruse almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Cruse pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Uzziah Sanders, who scored nine points.
Lincoln Southwest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Bellevue East, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-14.
Lincoln Southwest will take on the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Northeast is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Bellevue East, they will head out on the road to face off against the at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
