The Kingsland Knights put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Mabel-Canton by a score of 80-73. Kingsland's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Max Erdman, who shot 5-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double on 38 points and 11 rebounds. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Howard, who scored nine points.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cayden Tollefsrud, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Tollefsrud scored a full 32.9% of Mabel-Canton's points, the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tyler Larson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Kingsland pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points per game. As for Mabel-Canton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Kingsland and LeRoy-Ostrander will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully LeRoy-Ostrander focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. Mabel-Canton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lanesboro on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Minnesota (Lanesboro is ranked 344th, while Mabel-Canton is ranked 321st).
