After a string of four wins, The Campolindo Cougars''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Las Lomas by a score of 45-42. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (35), Campolindo still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Campolindo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Micah Parker. Despite the final result, he rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Sebastien Antonios-McCrea was in the mix too, providing Campolindo with two touchdowns.
Las Lomas' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Roman Mercado, who picked up 204 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Mercado's longest reception was for an incredible 96 yards. Daniel Downes also helped out as he racked up 135 receiving yards.
Campolindo's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2-1. As for Las Lomas, their victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Campolindo will take on Miramonte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Miramonte will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Campolindo is ranked 113th). As for Las Lomas, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Acalanes at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
