Make it six blowout wins for the Rocky River Pirates this season. They put the hurt on Valley Forge with a sharp 53-29 win on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but Rocky River sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
It was another big night for Ava Patti, who dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 12 rebounds, and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Russell, who scored six points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Valley Forge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cloe Rzeczycki, who scored four points along with three steals and three blocks. Rzeczycki has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Hoang, who scored eight points.
Valley Forge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-4) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Rocky River's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Valley Forge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky River will take on Westlake at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Valley Forge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cloverleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Cloverleaf focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday.
