The Adams Cougars lost against the North Mesquite Stallions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Adams suffered a rough 60-38 defeat at the hands of the Stallions. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Adams in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now lost six in a row.
Adams lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Altrie Farris, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Keiontay Marsh was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Adams struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Christian Brooks was nothing short of spectacular for North Mesquite: he almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Grigsby, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Adams has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 17 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-18 record this season. As for North Mesquite, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season.
Adams will be playing at home against the Wranglers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Mesquite presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cougars in Texas (the Wranglers are ranked 177th, while the Cougars are ranked 759th). As for North Mesquite, they will head out on the road to face off against the Timberwolves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spruce is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
