The Rockwell Christian School Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Victory Christian Academy Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Rockwell Christian School's 28-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. Their tough 94-70 defeat to North Hills Christian on Monday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Rockwell Christian School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while North Hills Christian is ranked 96th).
Meanwhile, Victory Christian Academy came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Mountain View Christian Academy 72-46. The score was close at the half, but Victory Christian Academy pulled away in the second half with 49 points.
Victory Christian Academy relied on the efforts of Gabriel Thompson, who scored 20 points, and Lloyd Hampton, who scored 20 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Thompson has scored at least 25% of Victory Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Copeland, who scored 10 points.
Rockwell Christian School's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Victory Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
