The Pamlico County Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Richlands Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pamlico County will be strutting in after a win while Richlands will be coming in after a loss.
Last Wednesday, Pamlico County's game was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They skirted past West Carteret 45-42. The victory was just what Pamlico County needed coming off of a 64-23 loss in their prior contest.
Pamlico County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydney Whitley-Reese, who scored 24 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Whitley-Reese has scored at least 25% of Pamlico County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dania Galvan-Veliz, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Richlands' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 57-19 loss at the hands of East Duplin. Richlands was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.
Despite their loss, Richlands saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mia Wells, who scored two points along with eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Jayla Bonney was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Pamlico County's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Richlands, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
