The Seton Catholic Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the King's Way Christian Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seton Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Seton Catholic made easy work of Castle Rock and carried off a 15-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won seven in a row.
Zola Stephens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Seton Catholic got a big performance out of Brooklynn Lubisich, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Tegan Figueroa also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, King's Way Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 11-3 to Tenino.
Lauren Lewis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Grace Wickum, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
King's Way Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Seton Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
King's Way Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Seton Catholic has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.2 hits per game. It's a different story for King's Way Christian, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Seton Catholic's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
Seton Catholic took their win against King's Way Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-3 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
