Centennial has won eight straight games at home, while Capital has won eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Patriots will host the Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Centennial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Centennial will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Borah, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Patriots came out on top against the Lions by a score of 9-4 on Friday.
Tate Keddington was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 12 matches.
Keddington wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Braden, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Another was Korbyn Nielsen, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Capital sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Borah on Thursday.
Cooper Myers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Capital is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.
Centennial's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Capital, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Centennial has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Centennial came out on top in a nail-biter against Capital in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
