The Carlinville Cavaliers will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Litchfield Purple Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Carlinville will be strutting in after a win while Litchfield will be coming in after a defeat.
On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Carlinville beat Lutheran 55-51.
Carlinville found their leader in underclassman Sawyer Smith, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Camden Naugle was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Litchfield pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Calvary by a score of 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Litchfield has suffered yet this season.
Carlinville's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Litchfield, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-10 record this season.
Carlinville lost to Litchfield on the road by a decisive 54-35 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Carlinville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
