Make it 12 blowout wins for the Doral Academy Firebirds this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Palmer Trinity 67-25 at home. Given Doral Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Palmer Trinity is ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Angelina Deleon was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Stephanie Vega, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Doral Academy and bumps their season record up to 16-6. As for Palmer Trinity, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.
Doral Academy will face off against Miami Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Miami Christian is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Palmer Trinity, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southridge at 7:30 p.m.
