It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Aledo Bearcats had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down Lubbock-Cooper 48-31. The victory was just business as usual for Aledo, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Aledo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ray Guillory led the charge by rushing for 198 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Guillory really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. Another player making a difference was Hauss Hejny, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Aledo pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34 points. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
Aledo will square off against Red Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Red Oak will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Lubbock-Cooper does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
