Canyon has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Los Alamitos Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Canyon had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-59 win over the Cougars.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremy Loreto, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Loreto is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Goodall, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Los Alamitos can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match last Thursday. Everything went their way against Edison as Los Alamitos made off with a 80-59 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Los Alamitos.
Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. As for Los Alamitos, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-5.
Everything came up roses for Canyon against Los Alamitos in their previous matchup back in December of 2017 as the team secured a 82-53 victory. Does Canyon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Los Alamitos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
