Skowhegan and Lewiston are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The River Hawks will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Skowhegan's win against Lawrence wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The River Hawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 3-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the River Hawks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Silas Tibbetts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trevor Austin, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Skowhegan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Lewiston ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Camden Hills. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Windjammers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Jeffrey Randall was excellent, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played.
The victory got Lewiston back to even at 5-5. As for Skowhegan, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Skowhegan couldn't quite finish off Lewiston in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the River Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
