Baseball Recap: Yulee Takes a Loss

Yulee came up into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Bradford Tornadoes by a score of 10-8 on Thursday. Even though they lost, the Hornets' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.5 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Evan Wands and Jared Malphrus did some serious damage despite the final result: Wands scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Malphrus scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Malphrus also hit a hit, marking his first of the season.

Even though they lost, Yulee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Yulee and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Bradford, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Yulee will face off against Orange Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Yulee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Bradford, they will take on Interlachen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bradford also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 6.2 runs per game.
