The Edgewood Cougars lost against the Kings Knights back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Edgewood had to suffer through a rough 64-37 loss at the hands of Kings. While losing is never fun, Edgewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Kings is ranked 50th).
Despite the loss, Edgewood still got an impressive performance from Rylie Homan, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Homan hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Swartzel, who scored eight points.
Edgewood struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Edgewood and nudges their season record down to 10-10. As for Kings, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewood will challenge Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. As for Kings, they will head out on the road to face off against Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kings has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
