The Creekside Christian Academy Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Victory Christian Center 74-70. While losing is never fun, Creekside Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 102nd in Georgia, while Victory Christian Center is ranked 30th in North Carolina).
Creekside Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cedric Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joseph Reddick, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Creekside Christian Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Victory Christian Center only posted nine assists.
Victory Christian Center got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alius Bowser out in front who scored 18 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Perry, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Creekside Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Victory Christian Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Creekside Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against Konos Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Konos Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday. As for Victory Christian Center, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lake Norman Christian at 5:30 p.m. Lake Norman Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Victory Christian Center likes a good challenge.
