Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 66-36 blowout they got on the road against Lookeba-Sickles. Sayre's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lookeba-Sickles saw an underclassman step up: Nathan Morris dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Morris scored a full 66.7% of Lookeba-Sickles' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Sayre's victory bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Lookeba-Sickles, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Sayre won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Snyder on January 6th. Lookeba-Sickles and Cordell will face off at 12:00 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Cordell is ranked 428th, while Lookeba-Sickles is ranked 441st).
