Fairfield is 8-2 against Westview since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Fairfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Fairfield proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by eight) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Tippecanoe Valley 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.
Faith Berkey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Elkhart Christian Academy on Monday.
Westview also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ella Williams gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Morgan Rich was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Westview's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Fairfield, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
Westview's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Westview, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Fairfield's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
Fairfield skirted past Westview 10-8 when the teams last played back in April. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
