Basketball Recap: Brayden Chapman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southwestern Randolph over North Stanly

Southwestern Randolph was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 83-64 to the North Stanly Comets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 60-49 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Southwestern Randolph's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Chapman, who posted 20 points. With that strong performance, Chapman is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Mosley, who earned 13 points and eight rebounds.

Southwestern Randolph's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for North Stanly, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Southwestern Randolph wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-55 win against Trinity on the 12th. As for North Stanly, they will head out to challenge North Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Stanly knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully North Davidson likes a good challenge.
