1A South Central recap Oct. 23, 2012
Limon extended the longest winning streak in 1A South Central this week by beating Calhan, 52-0. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Badgers.
Limon took down the Bulldogs 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gavin Liggett threw for 72 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 35 yards in the win.
Ryan Haynes and Dustin Stalder gave Crowley County a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Haynes threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns, while Stalder ran for 105 yards. Teammate Bryce Buhr added to the ground attack by rushing for 59 yards.
DANIEL BUSTAMONTE made the biggest impact on defense this week as Rocky Ford lost to the Chargers. The 6-foot-0 sophomore grabbed one sack.
Raul Hurtado was the best wideout in the league this week as Byers defeated Highland. Hurtado tallied six receptions for 147 yards. Chase Dean helped Byers' passing attack out by catching six balls for 90 yards.
Ryan Imber provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bulldogs bested the Huskies. He completed 14 passes for 272 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 78 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Herman Ross of Crowley County is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1005. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, Mike O'Dwyer's team's Chandler Dohe has rushed for 919 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dean. The Byers star has 21 catches for 443 yards.
The top two teams in 1A South Central will face off this week when first place Limon takes on second place Crowley County. Last week, the Badgers beat Calhan, while Tyrel Davies' team defeated the Meloneers.
Limon's Dohe is a mere 81 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
There should be lots of points scored when Crowley County and the Badgers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Chargers comes in having scored 237 this season, while Limon has scored 348. Crowley County scored 28 points last week as it defeated Rocky Ford.
