The Pillager Huskies entered their tilt with the Marshall Hilltoppers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Pillager came out on top against the Hilltoppers by a score of 76-63 on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Pillager's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Hooge led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hooge has scored at least a third of Pillager's points. Eli Miller was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Pillager is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Marshall, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pillager will square off against the Cardinals at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Marshall, they will head out on the road to square off against the Rails at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
