5A District 4 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Keegan Yates and Brannon Barth provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Tahlequah. The connection went for 83 yards, the longest such play in 5A District 4 this season.
East Central extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Collinsville, 36-26. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Pryor's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Yates threw for 125 and one touchdown and Barth had 113 yards receiving. On the ground Carson Smallwood chipped in 159 yards. Smallwood helped Pryor's passing attack out by catching one ball for seven yards.
Jordan Cunningham made the biggest impact on defense this week as Claremore beat Central. The 6-foot-0 senior recorded one fumble.
Thanks to the talents of Yates and Smallwood the Tigers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Yates leads the league in passing with 871 yards, while Smallwood has rushed for 1311 yards this season. The Zebras' Caleb Webster leads the league in receiving yards with 430 on 29 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Claremore takes on Coweta. At the moment, Rob Gilbreath's team is in first, while the Tigers are in third.
Coweta led 5A District 4 in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Grove.
