Meanwhile, Canton's four-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Williamson 50-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Canton has posted yet this season.
Canton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ben Fitch out in front who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Brayden Vroman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Athens has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Canton's record is now 6-10.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Athens hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 58.2 points per game. It's a different story for Canton, though, as they've been averaging only 39.3 points per game. The only thing between Athens and another offensive beatdown is Canton.
