The Centennial Knights were the 53-49 winner over the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Centennial took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans on Friday.
Despite the loss, Centennial had strong showings from Diamond Leslie, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Jasmine Perez, who scored 16 points along with six assists and two steals. That was a full 57.9% of Centennial's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Greater Atlanta Christian was led to victory by Myla Benton and Asia Johnson. Benton scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Johnson scored 19 points along with six rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lizzy Hathaway, who scored two points along with five rebounds.
Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Greater Atlanta Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season.
Centennial will be playing in front of their home fans against the Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northview presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Knights in Georgia (the Titans are ranked 146th, while the Knights are ranked 367th). As for Greater Atlanta Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Longhorns at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th.
