Hudson Falls is 0-10 against South Glens Falls since April of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Tigers will face off against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m.
Hudson Falls managed to slip by Glens Falls the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Tigers came up short against the Black Bears on Tuesday, falling 16-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Black Bears since April 28, 2023.
Hudson Falls saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Richard Rosick, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Rosick also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another was Santino Miranda, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but South Glens Falls ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Scotia-Glenville 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since April 21st.
Grady Bammert spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Justin Christensen, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
South Glens Falls' record is now 9-6. As for Hudson Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hudson Falls has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like South Glens Falls struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Hudson Falls came up short against South Glens Falls when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
