Shaker is 1-9 against Shenendehowa since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Shaker Bison will head out on the road to face off against the Shenendehowa Plainsmen at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Shaker has not done well against Saratoga Springs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Shaker enjoyed a cozy 60-43 victory over Saratoga Springs. Given Shaker's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Saratoga Springs is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shaker's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayla Geter, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Giada Lanni, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Shenendehowa waltzed into their game on Sunday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They put the hurt on Pearl River with a sharp 59-33 win. Shenendehowa has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.
Shaker's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Shenendehowa, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Shaker was taken down by Shenendehowa 74-32 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Shaker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
