The Southwestern Heights Mustangs had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 50-41 victory over Hugoton on Tuesday. For Southwestern Heights, this counts as revenge for the 42-24 defeat Hugoton walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Southwestern Heights found their leader in underclassman Layla Pearl kisner, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Pearl kisner's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jackie DeLaTorre was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Southwestern Heights' win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Hugoton, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-6 record last season and are now at 0-3.
Southwestern Heights will head out on the road to face off against Ulysses at 6:30 a.m. on Friday. Ulysses is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Hugoton, they will play host again and welcome Cimarron, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
