South Oldham is 8-2 against Trimble County since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Dragons will square off against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. South Oldham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
South Oldham is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Elizabethtown on Saturday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 8-2. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.
Addi Schrecker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Black, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Trimble County got the win against Shelby County on Saturday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Alyssa Ritchie made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, K Holbrook was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Shelby Wright also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Trimble County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Trimble County pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for South Oldham, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Oldham hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Trimble County struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
